An ornamental Geneva verge pocket watch "à trois couleurs" Movm. No. 8656, Case No. 8656, Dimensions 45 mm, circa 1800, Weight 63 g, Origin Schweiz Case: 18 K gold, bezel set with half-pearls, back with pearl-framed medallion, depicting a dog, a fruit basket and a quiver in high relief. Dial: Enamel. Movm.: Full plate movement, chain/fusee, three-arm brass balance. Jean Nicolas Menu was a watchmaker and dealer. Married to a daughter of Jacob Wiss, he became a business partner in the Geneva watch workshop Wiss & Amalric in 1787. The company existed from 1775 to around 1784. It was founded by Abraham Amalric and the Wiss brothers, Pierre-Isaac and Jacob, and continued under the name 'Wiss Frères & Menu' after Menu joined.
