c. early 1900s Baliuag, Bulacan Narra wood, bone / kamagong / lanite inlays Table (fully assembled): 80 x 333 x 124.5 cm (31 1/2 x 131 x 49 in) Chairs: 84 x 52 x 51.5 cm (33 x 20 1/2 x 20 1/4 in) each Provenance: From the grandparents of Monsignor Arturo A. Mendiola The table is made up of three separate inner sections and two semi-round end sections (with frieze drawers). Designed to be used individually and, when conjoined together, as one long table for large gatherings. Geometric bone inlays and fine twin inlays in kamagong and lanite woods are used effectively both to demarcate and decorate borders. Influence of the Edwardian style can be seen in the chairs with square backs, sloping arms, and the beautifully turned svelte legs ? also on the conforming table legs ? for a lighter feel and mobility. This table has descended from the grandparents of Arturo A. Mendiola, whose ancestral house was in a barrio of Santa Ana de Sapa district called San Felipe Neri (present-day Mandaluyong). Msgr. Mendiola was first assigned as parish priest of Sto. Nino de Tondo Parish Church, and became the first parish priest of Christ the King Church when it was established in Project 7, Quezon City in 1961.
