A BURMESE BRONZE KYEEZEE BELL-SPIN GONG Burma (Myanmar), 19th - early 20th century Cast bronze in the shape of a stupa, or evoking the outline of a seated meditating Buddha. One side is engraved with a peacock displaying its open tail, symbol of wisdom, purity and protection. Also known as a 'Burma Bell', this type of ritual instrument is used in Buddhist temples to mark the beginning and end of services. It is typically hung and struck to produce a long, resonant tone. 23 cm high, including tassles 39cm
