Ca. 1100 AD or later A bronze figure depicting the Buddha seated in meditation posture upon a stepped base, his hands resting calmly in a contemplative gesture. The face is now smooth from worshipper's handling. Behind the head rises a flaming aureole. The Buddha is shown wearing a thin monastic robe clinging to the body, the modelling restrained and frontal. Size: 175mm x 80mm; Weight: 735g. Provenance: Private London collection; formerly in Japanese 1980s collection.
