Tim Burton (1958 – ) Tim Burton’s unmistakable original and creative vision can be spotted in animated and live action film hits. Burton began his career studying animation at the California Institute of the Arts after Disney awarded him a fellowship. Burton later worked on animated films for Disney, where he was given the freedom to create personal side projects including, “Frankenweenie” (1984). It was this project that led Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) to give Burton a shot as the director for the surprise hit, “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure” (1985). This film catapulted Burton’s directing career, and lead to him to accept the script for, “Beetlejuice,” in 1988. In 1993, after years spent as a successful director of live action, Burton returned to animation with, “The Nightmare Before Christmas". Since then, Burton has continued to prove himself as one of America’s most established and quirky directors of film, animated and live.
