CHARLES W. LINDBERG (1920-2007) United States Marine corporal during World War II who was part of the combat patrol that climbed Mount Suribachi and raised the first of two U.S. flags on the summit during the Battle of Iwo Jima. I.S.P., 11" x 14" color, a view of the memorial to the battle atop Mount Suribachi, with a flight of F-14 Tomcat fighters in the background. Inscribed, in blue ink: "Charles W. Lindberg, 1st Flag Raiser at Iwo Jima, Feb. 23, 1945, 10:30 A.M." Fine.
