Canning acknowledges the receipt of his correspondent's letter regarding Mr. Henderson and remarks 'Without venturing to pledge myself (before I have had time to look into the state of the official arrangements belonging to this Department) to any specific object, your lordship may depend upon my desposition to pay every attention to your wishes, & Mr. Henderson's qualifications for employment', although also warns 'But he must not hurry me........'.
