CLARK MARK W.: (1896-1984) American Lieutenant General of World War II. D.S., Mark W. Clark, one page, 4to, being a printed souvenir copy of Clark's letter 'To the soldiers of the 15th Army Group', May 1945, in which he states, in part, 'With a full and grateful heart I hail and congratulate you in this hour of complete victory over the German enemy, and join with you in thanks to Almighty God' and concludes, 'My thanks go to each of you for your capable, aggressive, and loyal service which has produced this great victory.' Signed by Clarke in bold black ink with his name alone to the foot of the page. EX
