VIOLINISTS GROUP 10. A group of 19th-century violinists including: LEONARD, HUBERT. (1819-1890) Belgian violinist. Autographed printed visiting card. (Unsigned). 1p. 32mo. N.p., N.d. A three-line autograph message written to a male friend. Fine condition. LOTTO, IZYDOR. (1840-1927). Polish violinist and composer. A popular performer and considered one of the greatest representatives of the French School, Lotto was featured often in concerts in Germany, especially Berlin and Leipzig. AMusQS. (“I. Lotto”). ½p. 12mo. N.p., N.d. Four double measures marked “Allegretto” from Lotto’s (?) Duettino de deux Violins pour un seul Violin, penned on stationery printed, “Royal Dramatic College / Crystal Palace / Grand Fete and Fancy Fair / in aid of the Funds of the Institution.” Laid down to a larger album leaf otherwise fine. MARSICK, MARTIN. (1847-1924). Belgian violinist, teacher and composer. AMusQS. (“M. Marsick”). 1p. Large 8vo. London, March 14, 1878. Three double measures of music marked “Reverie” possibly inscribed to the French actress Victoire Eugénie Blancan, who was married to the actor, Alphonse Emile Alfred Dieudonné. Marsick occasionally played alongside Joachim and was part of a trio that included cellist Anatoli Brandukov and pianist Vladimir von Pachmann. He performed in a 1705 Stradivarius, known as the Ex-Marsick Stradivarius, once owned by David Oistrakh. Some browning at the edges, otherwise fine. MARTEAU, HENRI. (1874-1934). French violinist and composer. Child prodigy whose debut at the age of ten was in a concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Society under the direction of Hans Richter. ALS. (“Marteau.”). 1p. 8vo. Lichtenberg, July 22, 1921. To a concert director named Remaneth. In German with translation. Regarding a proposed concert in Bruenn. Two file holes in the left margin; otherwise fine. MAURER, LUDWIG. (1789-1878). German-Russian composer, conductor and violinist. He appeared as soloist in the first Russian performance of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. ALS. (“L. Maurer”).1p. Oblong small 8vo. N.p., N.d. To Mr. Wolf recommending a copyist. In French with translation. In fine condition; minor mounting traces. MOLIQUE, BERNHARD. (1802-1869). German violinist and composer. Court violinist in Munich and music director in Stuttgart. AMusQS. (“B. Molique”). 1p. Oblong 8vo. Vienna, February 13, 1846. 13 measures from a trio for piano, violin and cello penned on a decorative album leaf. Slightly worn but in overall very good condition. MORI, NICOLAS. (1796-1839). Anglo-Italian violinist once considered on a par with Paganini who was a student of Viotti from 1808-1814. A scarce signature (“Nicholas Mori”) dated March 30, 1829 penned on a small piece of paper. In very find condition and rare. MUSIN, OVIDE. (1854-1929). Belgian violin prodigy who began his studies at the age of six. A single measure of music containing a series of 43 (!) ascending notes. 1p. 12mo. Braem [?], 1890. Some scattered staining and light wear, otherwise in very good condition.
