A group of four original 1930s photographs related to actor Robert Taylor, from the personal collection of Larry Germaine (1913–1981), head hairdresser at Universal Studios. Germaine worked on numerous films and was a friend of Robert Taylor. He frequently sent film-related material to his aunt, Mrs. Gates. Larry Germaine was an established Hollywood hair stylist whose credits include Spartacus (1960), The Andromeda Strain (1971), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), The Flying Leathernecks (1951), and Clash by Night (1952). The group includes the following photographs: Signed Oversize Robert Taylor Portrait – Measures approximately 10.75" x 14". Studio portrait with visible lights in background. Verso stamped in purple: "Kindly credit MGM Photo by Ted Allen." Signed in white ink, inscribed: “To Larry’s Aunt – Mrs Gates – with my best wishes, Robert Taylor.” Condition: Some creasing to all edges. Fading to white ink inscription. MGM Tinted Publicity Portrait of Taylor – 8" x 10" with printed signature. Condition: Faint creasing visible. Candid Dining Room Photo of Taylor – 8" x 10" candid image. Condition: Very good. Portrait of Larry Germaine by Clarence Sinclair Bull – 8" x 10", stamped verso: "Kindly credit MGM Clarence Sinclair Bull." Condition: Light overall creasing. Condition Overall group in good to very good condition. The signed oversize Taylor portrait has edge creasing and some fading of the signature. Other photographs show minor creasing or light handling wear; no major defects noted.
