Pair of early U.S. military-related documents spanning from the post-War of 1812 to pre-Civil War era. 1828 Pennsylvania Militia Commission issued to Anthony Lanser of the 10th Company, 97th Regiment, 1st Brigade, 7th Division of Militia. Issued by the Governor’s Office and signed by Calvin Blythe, Secretary of State. Measures approximately 13 x 11 inches overall. Document has folds and left side has been trimmed. Fragile condition with separation and repairs on verso using aged tape. Lanser’s signature appears on the reverse. 1854 Presidential Land Grant issued to Harvey Dean, referencing War of 1812 service by Elisha Barber, Private in Capt. Webster’s Company, Connecticut Militia. The grant was for 40 acres located in Columbus County, Wisconsin. Folded, measures approximately 15.5 x 9.5 inches. Includes official blind seal.
