This lot includes two original legal arrest warrants from different centuries and states: 1799 Vermont Arrest Warrant: Signed by John Mattocks, who served in the War of 1812, was a U.S. Representative, and later became the 16th Governor of Vermont. Issued from St. Johnsbury, Caledonia County. Document is very fragile and shows splitting at folds. Comes with background information on Mattocks. 1865 Indiana Arrest Warrant: Issued in Switzerland County, Indiana, ordering the arrest of Albert Tompkins for selling liquor and minor. Signed by the county clerk. Includes blind-stamped county seal. Reverse has details including sheriff’s note and amount owed.
