Autograph books.-Autograph book of Gotthelf Heinrich Besser (probably) from Leobschütz (Silesia). With 35 handwritten entries on approx. 115 pages. Mostly Berlin and Cosel as well as Leobschütz and Neisse. 1830-42. With 3 watercolors. Small octavo format. Contemporary half leather with full gold edging, colored covers with paper borders mounted on them, and embossed gold appliqué mounted in the center of the front cover (slightly rubbed). - With entries by the sisters Auguste and Fridericke, the later wife Emilie Palmig, the brothers-in-law Adolph and Hermann Palmig, as well as Johann Peter Neidinger, Albert Neumann, Leo Julius Zellner, Carl Schwindtcke, and others. G.H. Besser was the prison warden (or administrator) in Berlin.- The watercolors show an angel next to a memorial plaque in a green landscape, a fruit still life with insects, and a castle ruin.- Flyleaf and 2 loose sheets, some with slight foxing.- Original description in German: Stammbücher.- Stammbuch von Gotthelf Heinrich Besser (wohl) aus Leobschütz (Schlesien). Halbleder der Zeit mit Ganzgoldschnitt, farbig gestalteten Deckeln und darauf montierten Papier-Bordüren sowie mittig auf Vorderdeckel montierter geprägter Goldapplikation (etwas berieben). - Mit Eintragungen der Schwestern Auguste und Fridericke, der späteren Ehefrau Emilie Palmig, den Schwagern Adolph und Hermann Palmig sowie Johann Peter Neidinger, Albert Neumann, Leo Julius Zellner, Carl Schwindtcke u.a.- G.H. Besser war Strafanstaltshausvater (beziehungsweise Verwalter) in Berlin.- Die Aquarelle zeigen einen Engel neben einer Gedenktafel in grüner Landschaft, ein Früchtestillleben mit Insekten sowie eine Burgruine.- Vorsatz und 2 Blätter lose, teils leicht stockfleckig.
