R., (10 April 1878 - June 1942), the last captain of the first R.M.S. Mauretania and the first master of the second R.M.S. Mauretania. The note, on a Cunard White Star memorandum from the Captain to Mr Steele, reference Britannic states “Dear Mr Steele, you remarked to me recently that the little flag we have been flying aft would make a splendid souvenir, if you care to have it here it is” 68cms x 43cms.
