THE FUNERAL PROCESSION TICKET OF NELSON’S CHAPLAIN THE FUNERAL PROCESSION TICKET OF NELSON’S CHAPLAIN an engraved invitation to the Funeral Procession of Lord Nelson at St Paul’s Cathedral, the name of the ticket holder ‘Revd Alexander John Scott, one of the officers who attended the remains at Greenwich’, signed by Isaac Heard, Garter and with his seal in black wax attached -- 7½ x 11in. (19 x 27cm.) Alexander John Scott (1768-1840) was an Anglican chaplain who served in the Royal Navy during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He served as Nelson’s personal chaplain at the Battle of Trafalgar, and had previously served as his private secretary. Scott was a close friend of Nelson and was with him as he died aboard H.M.S. Victory.
