작품 상세

DESCRIPTION: Fine original watercolor by listed artist and illustrator Hugh Laidman. The work is one of six by the artist we are selling from a series done at the 1967 South African Formula One Grand Prix race. It shows the number 7 and 14 cars on course with vast crowds of people and the grandstand in the distance. I was able to find the race lineup on wikipedia and identify the drivers as Jochen Rindt of Germany in the #7 and Sam Tingle of the UK in the #14. Laidman began his artistic career as a one of the first combat artists in the US Marine Corps. After WWII he became a well known illustrator who did dozens of covers for many major magazines and also had a popular nationally syndicated cartoon strip.
