Stamped with the Jack Kerouac Estate stamp and with the raised blind seal from the Executor of the Estate, John Sampas, Kerouac's brother-in-law, on the front endpaper. With soft blue-toned and cream wrappers. The original retail price of $2.75 (Canadian) is listed on the front cover. Wear including water-warping and isolated surface loss to the front cover, and uneven discoloration/water stains to the back cover. Scattered discoloration, splotches, wrinkling, and a faintly musty odor throughout. Else good. 1-38pp. 5.875" x 8.75" x .25." In the author's note, Ginsberg explains: "These are compositions from Journals kept decades 1948-1968, a few solid fragments typed up published out of context, not exactly poems, nor not poems: journal notations put together conveniently, a mental turn-on printed across the border by long hair youthful exiles disunited from these States by the war of sighs and spears…" Jack Kerouac had first met Allen Ginsberg in 1940, while both were students at Columbia University; the pair would remain lifelong friends and become the figureheads of the Beatnik Movement.
