Maker: J Stevens Arms Co (bought by Savage in 1920) Firing Mechanism: Hammerless, Pump-Action Barrel Description: 19" with beaded sight. Caliber: 12 gauge capacity of 5 shells, 2.75" shells or shorter. Grip description & Material: checkered walnut grip on stock grip area. Butt Plate: black steel wit horizontal lines, held on with two, flat-headed screws. Serial Number: 40655 Other stamps or markings: Stamped on the left side (from front to back) with a small "P" and ordnance bomb (looks like an 8), "Model 520-30" and a small "U.S." over the trigger. Model 520-30 barrels are marked "Proof Tested--12 Gauge --2 3/4 Inch Chamber--" on the left side has another small "P" and flaming bomb and the "J Stevens Arms Company" address on the right side of the barrel. This was done so that all the markings could be read with a heat shield installed in place, during WWII.
