작품 상세

LUDWIG BECK AND WERNER VON FRITSCH A pair of calling cards owned and annotated by two rarer German generals. Included is a card from WERNER VON FRITSCH (1880-1939), Commander in Chief of the German Army highly critical of Hitler's intention to go to war, killed in action before Warsaw, reading: 'With the expression of my very deep and sincere sympathy'. The other calling card is from LUDWIG BECK (1880-1945), Chief of the General Staff of the German Army, resigned in 1938 in protest of Hitler's decision to take Czechoslovakia. Beck joined the resistance, was implicated in the July 1944 bomb plot, and was executed in his office after two suicide attempts. His card reads: 'With warm good wishes for Christmas' and is dated '24.12.41'. Very good.
