Presented is a vintage WWI poster published in 1917 for British Recruitment Week. The poster shows Father Knickerbocker, Uncle Sam, and a Gordon Highlander playing a bagpipe arm and arm. The Kilties were the Regimental Band of the Gordon Highlanders who came from Canada to tour New York in July 1917 to help the recruitment campaign for World War I. The poster reads: "Hoot Mon, The Kilties Are Here!" in red and white block letters. The text "British Recruiting Week, July 16-21" is printed at the poster’s bottom, in blue and white block letters. This poster was part of the Colonel Edward McCrahon Poster Collection.
