Ca. AD 1300 - 1400 An iron great helm with a tall, cylindrical skull and near-flat crown, formed from multiple plates riveted together. The upper section flares towards the base, where separate, lower plates are secured, leaving a pair of narrow horizontal sight slots between them. Across the face, the plate is pierced with a dense field of small, round ventilation holes arranged in horizontal rows. Size: 260mm x 290mm; Weight: 2kg. Provenance: Central London gallery; formerly with a European collector; formerly in a collection of Ing Peter Till formed in the 1980s, Vienna.
