Ca. AD 600 - 700 A long iron spatha blade with near-parallel cutting edges that taper to an acute point. A narrow tang of rectangular section projects from the shoulder line. At the base of the blade, close to the shoulder, a small circular stamped roundel shows a schematic human head in relief. Size: 630mm x 50mm; Weight: 508g. Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
