The sheath (foukari) features dense repoussé decoration with dragons, beasts, and floral motifs, while one side depicts a standing, armed Cretan figure. The tip of the sheath takes the form of a sea dragon. The upper part of the sheath is adorned with three parallel gilded bands with rope-like rings, and four decorative pendants made from 20-lepta coins of the Cretan State (1900) and the Kingdom of Greece (1895). The two pieces (manikia) of the bone handle are secured with three rows of double rivets on each side and are joined with a silver band (tsemberliki) decorated with engraved linear and floral motifs. The tsemberliki includes a recess for a small pair of tongs (masia). length: 39 cm.; length with sheath: 42 cm.
