1830-1848, French Officers Dress Epee, with solid Silver Hilt, Helmeted Head Pommel, Gilt-Etched Blade, attributed to France, July Monarchy period (Louis-Philippe era, c. 1830 - 1848). The sword features a finely modeled helmeted warrior-head pommel and an ornate guard with trophy-of-arms decoration, including cannon and standards. The oval/dish guard is bordered with a twisted/rope motif and displays a crowned monogram at center (possibly an owners cipher or state-related device). Maker marked with silver proof. The grip is dark shagreen/checkered with an applied cartouche panel. The straight, narrow blade is decoratively etched with gilt highlights and martial trophy motifs, typical of officer-grade presentation/dress weapons of the period.
