작품 상세
An Ottoman kilij of pala swordpe, distinguished by its broadening blade toward the foible, forged of steel and exhibiting a confident, powerful curvature characteristic of 19th-century Ottoman edged weapons. The blade is engraved with a silver-inlaid cartouche bearing the maker’s name "Mahmud Hassan," executed in stylized Arabic script and placed prominently on the blade surface, serving both as a mark of authorship and a decorative focal point. The blade form and inscription together indicate a weapon produced by a recognized workshop or master smith active during the later Ottoman period. The hilt is fitted with dark horn grip scales of the pistol form, secured with rivets and finished with a rounded pommel cap, mounted to a silver guard of cross form with short quillons terminating in knobbed ends. The guard is finely engraved with linear and hatched ornament, displaying careful handwork and a mellow patina consistent with age. The junction of the hilt, guard, and blade is tight and undisturbed. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold "as-is", refer to our T&C. Helios Auctions offers in-house shipping.
