작품 상세

A fine Ottoman pala featuring a broad single-edged, deeply curved blade forged in wootz steel with a clear and active watered pattern. The blade has a pronounced widening toward the tip (yalman), which is characteristic of the pala form used by Ottoman cavalry throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. The sword retains its traditional Ottoman brass crossguard with elongated ovoid quillons and engraved foliate decoration. The horn hilt scales are carved in the classic style pistol grip. The scabbard is original to the sword and is clad in shagreen leather with gilt brass mounts also decorated with foliate engraving. Two suspension rings are attached to the upper and central mounts. The drag is long and reinforced, which is typical for pala scabbards of the 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold "as-is", refer to our T&C.
