작품 상세
A superbly crafted shamshir with a fine wootz steel blade and exquisitely chased silver mounts with foliate designs and crescent moon motifs. The hilt is comprised of a guard of chased silver and gilt-brass with quillons tipped with lobed finials. The grip is comprised of two finely carved and polished horn panels which have been shaped with four finger grooves for better indexing. The front quillon and pommel are affixed with three chains mounted on rings that act as a knuckle bow to protect the fingers. The scabbard of the piece is similarly decorated with chased silver mounts along much of its length, as well as fine black leather stitched with coiled metal wire. There are two rings from which the scabbard is hung that are attached via large, chased silver bands. Ottoman Empire, Balkans, 19th Century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
