Agnes Miller Parker. Over the Blacksmith's Shop. A superb example of an early wood engraving of the Scottish artist dating from 1926. Titled, signed, and dated below the image, this print is number 8 out of a series of 30 printed. 9 x 8.875 inches. Printed on very thin Japanese rice paper mounted onto a piece of backing paper attached at the top with three small spots of glue. Very slight rubbing around the block and some glue discoloration at the top, not affecting the image itself. In a side-hinged mat. This particular print brings out an attention to detail in its execution paired with a dynamic composition of everyday forms. A beautiful copy of a delicate print.
