The core of the blade is made of hard carbide steel for excellent initial sharpness and good edge retention. 48 layers of steel surround the core, creating the Damascus design on the blade. A three-stage sharpening process, called Honbazuke, gives the knife a razor-sharp edge. There is no finger guard, so the entire length of the edge can be used. The cutting edge is symmetrical (not single bevel), making it suitable for both left- and right-handed users. The smooth junction between the handle and bolster helps prevent calluses from forming on the thumb and index finger. For better maintenance, hand wash and sharpen with a stone. Avoid using glass, ceramic, or stone cutting boards, as they can dull the cutting edge.Product Sold and Shipped in Original Packaging with Certificate.
