Diese Elemente aus der Natur dienten ihm als Ausgangspunkt für künstlerische Inspirationen. Zusammengestellt transformierte er sie zu surrealistischen Kompositionen, die er zeichnerisch festhielt und auch noch Jahre später in zwei- oder dreidimensionale Kunstwerke umsetzte. So schuf Le Corbusier eine Serie von Skulpturen mit dem Titel "Ozon", die zwischen 1957 und 1962 unter Mitarbeit von Joseph Savina entstand. Das vorliegende Blatt lässt sich in diesen Kontext einordnen und nimmt thematisch Bezug zu Werken aus den 1940er-Jahren, die sich in der Sammlung der Fondation Le Corbusier befinden (FLC 6305, 3035, 1185).
