Born in 1941, died in 2019 as a Viennese artist who created an expressive oeuvre over five decades; self-taught roots with influences from Viennese post-war modernism, close friendships with colleagues such as Dieter Kederst, exhibitions in Vienna (e.g. VHS Hietzing 2025 retrospective). Janisch worked primarily in ink on paper with figurative motifs such as nudes, portraits (e.g. Hommage à Picasso) and scenes (‘Burges und Phylbi’); characteristic features include dynamic lines, expressive strokes and narrative elements in monochrome drawings.
