It is made of bright ceramic shards. It features a matt black slip and a stencil decoration of red enamel. The decor shows three circles of different sizes and two curved and rectangular bands. The plate is marked with the impressed number 2864 on the underside. It is in good original condition with minor scratches, traces of glue and tiny color losses in the mirror. The diameter of the plate is 30 cm. El Lissitzky (1890-1941) El Lissitzky (1890-1941) was a Russian artist, architect, designer and photographer. As one of the most important figures of the Russian avant-garde, he contributed to the development of Suprematism with his mentor, Kazimir Malevich. In addition, he designed numerous exhibition displays and propaganda works for the Soviet Union. Lissitzky´s work influenced not only the Constructivist movement but also the artists of the Bauhaus movement immensely. The artist experimented with production techniques and stylistic devices that would go on to dominate graphic design of the 20th century.
