Three 19th Century Puzzle Jugs: Two Burton-in-Londsale Slip-ware Jugs, the third having thick brown black glaze to the ovoid body, three projecting spouts (two damaged) to the rim, a hoop handle and a pierced neck of heart and circle motifs, 6½'' (16.5 cm) high. Both of the Burton-in-Lonsdale jugs having trailed slip decoration and verse; 'Gentlemen now try you skill, I'll lay you Sixpence if you will, Drink out of this without a spill', one dated 1868 with a brown glazed body and six protuberant spouts above the pierced neck', 8'' (20 cm) high, the other dated 1872 with a reddish brown glazed body and five protuberant spouts (two chipped off and missing) 7¼'' (18.5 cm) high.
