Large Pair of 19th Century French Sevres-Style Porcelain Vases with Covers This impressive and finely crafted pair of 19th-century French porcelain vases is executed in the Sevres style, notable for its vivid bleu celeste ground and exquisite hand-painted decoration. Each vase is adorned with finely detailed romantic scenes - one side depicting 18th-century courting couples in lush landscapes, and the other showing pastoral European countryside views with buildings nestled among trees. The artwork is beautifully rendered with rich colors and remarkable precision, framed by tooled gilt borders. Each vase is mounted with finely cast and chased gilt bronze (ormolu) fittings, including ornate handles with neoclassical female busts, openwork scrollwork collars, and laurel wreath motifs around the base. The vases are raised on original gilt bronze stands with foliate and mask decorations, enhancing their overall grandeur. The lids are similarly decorated and topped with gilt bronze acorn finials. The undersides of the porcelain bodies bear underglaze blue Sevres-style marks, consistent with French decorative production from the second half of the 19th century. These vases exemplify the opulence and refinement of French decorative arts from the Belle epoque and would make a striking statement in any interior or collection.
