작품 상세
Amphora-shaped body with a turquoise background highlighted in gold, decorated with putto figures within a gilded border with plant motifs, corresponding to a vibrant composition of multi-colored flowers diametrically opposite. On the sides are gilded bronze rams' heads, from which rises a long stem terminating in a curl, around which vine shoots with bunches of grapes are wrapped. The upper rim is decorated with gilded bronze roses; the spool-shaped support is supported by plant motifs joined by floral garlands. This pair of vases is part of the 19th-century French Neo-Rococo style, inspired by the models of the 18th-century Sèvres Manufactory, particularly the use of a "bleu céleste" turquoise background, the figurative reserves with cupids, and the rich gilding. Compared to the 18th-century examples, the gilded bronze mounts are more elaborate and dramatic, in keeping with a typical 19th-century taste and typical of Parisian production intended for formal furnishings.
