작품 상세

This exquisite antique dessert cutlery set comprises six knives and six forks, each featuring beautifully carved ivory handles and sterling silver mounts. The blades and tines bear English sterling silver hallmarks, including the lion passant (sterling standard), leopard’s head (London), date letter, duty mark, and maker’s mark, visible in close-up photos. One of the maker’s marks appears to be "WB", possibly attributable to William Batt or William Barrett, both noted London silversmiths active in the mid-19th century. The set is presented in its original fitted mahogany presentation case with an inset brass shield cartouche on the lid and rich blue velvet interior. The craftsmanship of the box reflects high Victorian period taste and quality. Key features: Origin: England, London (hallmarked) Date: Circa 1850s Medium: Sterling silver (blades and ferrules), natural ivory (handles), steel (knife blades), mahogany (box) Condition: Very good antique condition overall.
