Silver handles with finely carved floral decoration and dragon-head guards. Stamped “BI” (British Islands), referring to the British administration of the United States of the Ionian Islands (1815–1864). knife length: 42 cm.; fork length: 34.5 cm. The craftsmanship suggests work by Kalarrytes artisans who fled to the Ionian Islands after the destruction of their village in 1821. Similar decoration is found on a sword dated 1781 in The Journey of a Collector – The Collection of Vasilis D. Korkolopoulos, Athens 2008, p. 72, no. 14.
