DESCRIPTION: Fine original watercolor by listed artist and illustrator Hugh Laidman. The work is one of six by the artist we are selling from a series done at the 1967 South African Formula One Grand Prix race. It shows the number 2 car which was driven by Denny Hulme on the side of the track with a crew attending. In the foreground on of the on course cars rips by in a blaze of speed. Laidman began his artistic career as a one of the first combat artists in the US Marine Corps. After WWII he became a well known illustrator who did dozens of covers for many major magazines and also had a popular nationally syndicated cartoon strip.
