Single figures achieve up to 6,000 euros on the international auction market These bronze figures by Adolf Gustav Daumiller were created around 1920. The two young women are seated in elegant postures. One coyly covers her upper body with her right arm while the other one seems unaware of her nudity and openly presents her bare torso to the viewer. The well-shaped bodies, their muscles and bones are skillfully elaborated. Here Daumiller shows his talent to render the human form in harmonious proportions. The faces too are crafted in the finest manner. Stylistically the figures are reminiscent of Daumiller's contemporary Fritz Klimsch, who also created numerous female nudes of this kind. The bronzes can be placed in various constellations. The two bronzes are in very good condition. They measure 27 x 31 x 21 cm and 26 x 35 x 21 cm respectively (height x length x width). Adolf Gustav Daumiller (1876-1962) Adolf Gustav Daumiller first attended the academy in Hanau and then the academy in Munich. For two years he continued his education in London and then studied at the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1908 onwards Daumiller worked in Munich where he regularly exhibited in the Glaspalast. The artist created sculptures, grave stones, medals and commemorative plaques. Moreover he designed figures, which were produced by the Rosenthal porcelain manufactory. Daumiller was a member of the Munich artists' association and the artist society Allotria.
