Classical Scene, possibly the Judgement of Paris Plaster plaque Signed on verso with artist's painted monogram "EN" upper right Inscised into plaster on verso "21" upper left With paper label on verso "Estate of Elie Nadelman." 3 5/8 x 6 3/4 inches Elie Nadelman and his wife spent their summers at Alderbrook, a few houses away from Wave Hill, where John Wheelock Freeman grew up. The Freeman's were friends with the Nadelman's and after the artist passed away, his wife Viola Flannery gave the Freeman's this plaque and a watercolor painting of a woman from the Estate's collection. PROVENANCE Gift of Viola M. Nadelman to John and Sally B. Freeman, mid-1950s.
