While at once mimicking the architecture of an a phone booth and an isolation chamber, Jaume Plensa's Conversation IV pulses with an ever-changing light display from within, illuminating the glass brick structure and calling the body forth. The structure is a vessel, a metaphor of and for the body, one that only contains emptiness and keeps the door shut to its interior and the outside world. This transparent void filled with cool, colored light beckons the viewer to engage with it directly, questioning the very nature of the relationship of viewer, object and the world beyond.
