Signed 'Seitz' on the sole of the right foot. Posthumous cast. One of 5 casts in total. We would like to thank Bernd Schälicke, Gustav Seitz Stiftung Hamburg, for the kind information. As a work comissioned by the city of Hamburg for the Internationale Gartenschau, Seitz transfered the motif of the "Kleine Knienden" into a larger-than-life version in 1963 - the "Große Kniende", which was first positioned at Hamburg's ramparts and later in the Alsterpark (see Grohn 157).
