Denys-Pierre Puech, French (1854-1942), a patinated bronze portrait statuette of Henri Fabre-Luce, aged 14, the boy shown standing in a nonchalant pose, wearing shirt, tie and weskit, his hands thrust in to his jacket pockets, the rectanular base signed and dated 'D.PUECH, PARIS 1909' in the maquette and stamped for the VALSUANI foundry, 68cm high Literature: Denis Puech, Exhibition Catalogue, Musée des Beaux Arts Denys-Puech, Rodez, 1993, p. 200, no. 468, illustrated Note: The Fabre-Luce family name is derived from the marriage of Urbain Fabre (1813-1899) and Léonie Luce. Henri was their grandson and died during world war I. It is interesting to note that Puech rarely did portrait statuettes but was more commonly known for rendering standard portrait busts Denys Puech studied with Jouffroy, Chapu and Falguière before debuting at the Salon in 1875. He served as the director of the Villa Medicis in Rome from 1921 to 1933
