Masaai Carving captivates with its skilled artwork and underlying meaning alike. At first glance, it may appear as though it is merely a bark from a tree. Turn it around, and you will notice a delicately carved out Masaai figure carefully crouching within the frame. The Masaai woman sits in the hollow tree trunk, as she grabs on to its edges with one hand, and a water gourd in the other. Whether she is merely resting in the hollow trunk, or hiding from a predator, only the artisan knows. Either way, it can make an intriguing piece to have on a mantelpiece or dinner table.
