Turin, robed female figure of Electricity to left, holding burning torch, regarded by a male figure of Hercules, rev. power lines above bust of Edison to right, edge impressed bronze and cornucopia, 72 x 52mm, 134.70g (Maier 327; BM Acq. 1978-82, p.60, 138; Jones, Art of the Medal, 422; cf . iNumis MBS 38, 1226; cf . About extremely fine £120-£150 --- Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) invented the electric light bulb in 1879, and by 1881 had built a generating station supplying over 80 customers.
