Featured in this lot is this bronze toned, plaster reproduction sculpture of Frederic Remington's "Mountain Man" originally done in 1903, reproduced by Chesapeake Reproductions Incorporation. Frederic "Sackrider" Remington (October 4, 1861 December 26, 1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in the genre of Western American Art. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, Native Americans, and the US Cavalry. The sculpture features a wonderfully and professionally crafted plaster construction with a wood base featuring a brass plaque. The sculpture shows a Native American man on horse back, scaling down the mountain side. The plaque is marked reading, "Mountain Man by Frederic Remington / Chesapeake Reproductions Inc.". The sculpture shows broken sections on the tip of the right ear of the horse and on the back left leg of the horse. The man is also missing his rifle that he should be holding in his hand. It shows good to fair condition overall with wear present and slight damage noted. It measures 14 7/8" L x 12 5/8" W x 19 5/8" H and weighs 16 pounds and 14 ounces.
