PEN & INK ILLUSTRATION - Caricature by George Wachsteter (1911-2004) of Sir Cecil Beaton (1904-1980), Photographer, Fashion & Stage Designer, Film Art Director & Writer, in creative repose. Possibly done when he was scenic, costume and lighting designer for the 1946 Broadway production of Oscar Wilde's 'Lady Windermere's Fan', at the Cort Theatre from October 14, 1946 to April 26, 1947. Beaton had also garnered 3 Academy Awards during his long and distinguished career in Hollywood, including 2 for Art Direction and Costume Design for his most celebrated film work, 1964's 'My Fair Lady'. On 11" x 15" illustration board, for the New York Herald Tribune, includes clipping. 8 1/2" x 11" image. Minor edge soiling.
