Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 2,800 Euro Offered here is a pastel drawing by the artist Ludwig von Hofmann which originated in the period around 1910. The artist was able to include some illustrious personalities to his collectors during his lifetime, among them the Austria-Hungarian Empress Elisabeth and the art historian Heinrich Wölfflin as well as Wilhelm von Bode. Influenced by Symbolism and Art Nouveau, his subjects show a reception of antiquity in connection with his own ideas of Arcadia, as it is brilliantly illustrated in our pastel drawing depicting a Dionysus group. Condition: The work is in an overall very good condition. The sheet is mounted to a support (reversible) and framed behind glass. The paper bears some light and mount staining along the edges, the lower right corner is minimally bumped. On the reverse minor foxing visible, otherwise generally of very good impression. The nearly sheet sized representation measures 21.8 x 30.3 cm. The framed size is 47.5 x 62 cm.
