Hanne Darboven (1941-2009) Hanne Darboven studied from 1962 to 1965 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg, where Willem Grimm and Almir Mavignier were her teachers. She then continued her studies in New York. Influenced by the Minimal Artists, Sol LeWitt and Carl Andre, Darboven found her very special form of conceptual art. Based on time periods and checksums of the days she created construction-like drawings on graph paper, which she reduces increasingly toi the simplest mathematical form over the years. Later she translated the number sequences also to note sequences. Hanne Darboven is one of the world's most important conceptual artists. She was represented three times at documenta exhibitions in Kassel, her works are in the collections of major international museums.
