DRAWING - PICART, B. (Bernard) (1673-1733). (The stoning of two lustful elders in the biblical story of Susanna). ORIGINAL DRAWING in black ink & grey wash. Signed "B. Picart fecit" and dated "1698" in black ink. Ca. 14 x 21 cm. Tipped onto a mount. Cf. Poortman II, p. 139. Nice drawing (in good condition) of a dramatic scene depicting the stoning of two elder judges after their false accusation of adultery of the biblical Susanna (as described in the Book of Daniel 13:61-62). The handmade paper with a large watermark of a crowned post-horn. The drawing was engraved (in reverse) by Adriaen Haelwegh (1637-ca.1696) and published in the famous print-bible of Pieter Mortier ("Historie des Ouden en Nieuwen Testaments", 1700).
